Research Abstract |
A novel liposome conjugated to Sialyl Lewis X(SLX-liposome), which targets E-selectin has been developed. In this study, we investigated the capacity of SLX-liposome containing anti-inflammatory agent for neuroprotection in cerebral ischemia using a rat model of transient middle cerebral artery occlusion(TMCAO). SLX-liposomes blocked E-selectin on luminal endothelium and attenuated infarct volume after TMCAO. These results suggest that SLX-liposomes have the potential for the treatment targeted to endothelial cells in acute ischemic stroke.
