Research Abstract |
In ordinary CT image reconstruction methods, there exists noise-aliasing problem when field of view, or pixel size, is not small enough. That is, noise component beyond pixel Nyquist frequency in the raw-data folds back within pixel Nyquist frequency. By incorporating a band-limiting process, we can eliminate this aliased noise without penalty on image sharpness. We have confirmed significant image quality improvement or reduction of radiation dose can be achieved by this technique especially when the image reconstruction kernel is high-frequency enhancing type.
