Research Abstract |
The coagulation area obtained by HIFU and RFA was compared in ex vivo and in vivo animal livers. In both ex vivo and in vivo studies, RFA has gained larger, homogeneous coagulation area with shorter treatment time than HIFU. A shortcoming of HIFU has been demonstrated to be longer treatment time and insufficient penetration. There might be some problems for the clinical application of HIFU to human liver cancer.
