Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to examine the effectiveness of the nursing intervention model promoting comfort of the patient in the process of weaning from mechanical ventilation after esophagectomy in the ICU by using VAS, cutaneous electrical potential and interview with patients. Nursing intervention model is constructed from the care for Relief, Ease, Transcendence. It has been revealed that all VAS scores are higher in the intervention group than in the control group, and this model is considered to be effective for especially Transcendence from interview analysis and VAS score. The meaningful results were not obtained from the cutaneous electrical potential. It seems to be very significant that this nursing intervention is considered to be effective for Transcendence in the ICU, precisely because pain relief is very difficult in this setting.
