Research Abstract

The mitochondrial DNA sequences in the two regions(D-loop and ND6) have been determined for over 3 thousand residents in Hisayama town, Fukuoka prefecture. We have found that one single nucleotide polymorphism(SNP) is statistically linked to a metabolic syndrome. We have established the cybrid cell lines which contain the SNP and now we plan to analyze their mitochondrial activities, IGF response, and so on.
