Research Abstract |
Stress fibers play a key role in regulation of cell homeostasis. Here we investigated their biophysical properties and microstructure. Particularly, we developed a method to isolate stress fibers that are intact with regard to structure (confirmed by western blotting and electron microscopy)and function(confirmed by a contractility assay). We then submitted a molecular mechanism that may underlie the cell shortening-induced disassembly of stress fibers.
