揮発性成分が地球深部のマグマの粘度に与える影響

Research Abstract

マグマの粘度は地球内部におけるマグマの移動をコントロールする.特にマグマではSiO4やAlO4のネットワークの連結の度合いが粘度に強く影響する.このネットワークはマグマの組成,温度,圧力および揮発性成分量で変わるため,様々な条件下で粘度を測定してこれらが粘度にどの様な影響を調べることは重要である.しかしながら、高圧力下での粘度測定は多くが2GPa以下の比較的低圧下で行われており,それ以上の圧力下についてはよく分かっていない.今年度は,茨城県つくば市にある高エネルギー加速器研究機構物質構造科学研究所放射光実験施設のPF-AR NE7Aビームラインに設置された大容量マルチアンビル型高圧発生装置MAX-IIIとX線イメージングシステムを使用して高圧高温下における粘度測定を行った.特に輝石の端成分であるNaAlSi206とCaMgSi206組成のメルトに着目し,粘度の温度および圧力依存性を6GPaまで行った.粘度の圧力依存性はメルトの重合度に応じて異なると考えられてきた.つまり,ネットワーク重合度の高いメルトは圧力の増加に対して粘度が減少し,逆に重合度が低いメルトでは粘度は増加する.本研究の結果,重合度の高いNaAlSi206メルトの粘度は3GPaまでは従来の報告どおり減少するものの,それ以上の圧力では減少が止まり,僅かに正の圧力依存性を示すことが分かった.これはメルトの構造変化に起因すると考えられるが,特にAlの配位数変化が影響していると思われる.
