Research Abstract |
If an artificial skeletal muscle can be applied as an actuator, it may exhibit high energy conversion efficiency. In this study, we successfully constructed three-dimensional tissue-like structures composed of myoblast cells by using a magnetic force-based tissue engineering technique. The tissue contracted rhythmically in response to electrical pulses. Moreover, we constructed genetically engineered myoblast cells to promote their performance as bio-actuator.
