Research Abstract |
The purpose of this study is to explore the nature of early Buddhist Chinese translations language from the viewpoint of historical Chinese grammar. The key achievements can be summarized as follows : as regards peculiar grammatical phenomena characteristic to Buddhist Chinese translations written before fifth century A. D., we have submitted a rudimentary standard to judge whether they are a reflection of Middle Chinese or not.
