Research Abstract

This study shed the light on the state of male family caregivers who are increasing in number these days, by conducting empirical analyses to explore the stress processes of male family caregivers to the disabled elderly and their associations with informal and formal support for the caregivers, in comparison to those of female family caregivers, based on the social stress framework. The results show the possibility that there are some similarities and differences between the stress processes of male and female family caregivers, and that the gender differences in those processes depend on the relationships between caregivers and the disabled elderly.
