白亜紀堆積物から読み解く「古日本列島」

Research Abstract

日本海が新生代中ごろに形成される以前は、日本列島(に成る部分)は朝鮮半島～沿海州に張り付くように存在していた。よって、白亜紀に存在したであろう堆積盆に砕屑物を供給した後背地としては、朝鮮半島及び中国大陸が重要な位置を占める。そのため、大陸から供給される砕屑物質を見積もるための基礎データとして砕屑性モナザイトの年代分布を解明する研究を継続的に行っている。―方で、日本列島に存在する先白亜紀地質体も無視できない存在である。日本列島で最も大陸側に位置する飛騨帯(宇奈月帯を含む)は、先白亜紀花崗岩を含む最も大きな地質体でもあり、そこの年代学的研究は白亜紀堆積物の年代解析に於いても重要な位置を占めると考えられる。また、本年度は東北地方で掘削されたボーリングコアから発見した300Ma花崗岩について学会発表を行った(論文は受理済み印刷中)。この発見は、東北日本と西南日本を統一的に論じるためのカギとなるとともに、日本海形成以前の東北日本と西南日本の位置関係を制限しうる重要な情報となる可能性がある。
白亜紀堆積物に関しては、従来ジュラ紀付加体の変成部と考えられてきた「三波川帯」の原岩の大部分が、四万十帯とほぼ同時代の白亜紀後期付加体である事を再三示してきた。また、浅海性堆積物である篠山層群(兵庫県)や御船層群(熊本県)などから岩石試料を採取している。現在、その結果を次年度に順次公表するべく研究を続けている。
