Research Abstract |
In order to predict the mechanical properties of soft materials, an accurate determination of non-uniform deformation of the materials is indispensable. In the present study, an accurate method to evaluate the non-uniform deformation in the material from digitalized images was developed and evolution of deformation field was evaluated quantitatively. Furthermore, the effect of microscopic non-uniform deformation behavior on the mechanical properties of material was investigated by numerical simulation using a multiscale mechanical model based on the material hierarchy.
