Research Abstract

There was no difference in development of atherosclerotic plaques between ApoE-/-and DN-MafB/ApoE-/-mice. However, more necrotic cores and fewer fibrous tissues were shown in atherosclerotic plaques in DN-MafB/ApoE-/-mice than in ApoE-/-mice. DN-MafB/ApoE-/-mice had more apoptotic macrophages and production of reactive oxygen species in the atherosclerotic plaques than ApoE-/-mice. DN-MafB may be associated with vulnerability of atherosclerotic plaques.
