Research Abstract |
MURC expression was increased in cardiac hypertrophy and failing hearts. When MURC was overexpressed in CMs, MURC induced ERK activation and cardiomyocyte (CM) hypertrophy. shRNA-mediated MURC knockdown impaired α1 adrenergic agonist-induced CM hypertrophy and ERK activation. MURC-induced increases in cell size were attenuated by a MEK inhibitor. Furthermore, MURC bound to cavin family proteins (cavin-1, -2), caveolin-3, α1 adrenergic receptor, and p-ERK in CMs.
