This study mainly evaluated the effectiveness in Japan of the Illness Management and Recovery program(IMR) which is considered as the program based on evidence in the U. S. A study employed a pre-post design involving 87 participants with a diagnosis of schizophrenia at six sites such as Yokohama City University Hospital. Participants in the IMR program showed significant improvement in psychiatric symptoms and overall functioning as well as self-reported improvement in activation level in self management, quality of life, health status, satisfaction and self-efficacy in community living in pre-post comparison.
