| Research Abstract |
Data of this study were collected during 0-year-old baby check-ups and a follow-up investigation in Japan, and 262 participants were included in the analysis.
1.The high anxiety trait groups exhibited markedly higher postpartum depression scores but showed reduced depression scores during their children's separation-individuation period compared with the postpartum period.
2.Mothers with low childhood maternal care become more depressive during their children's separation-individuation period compared with the postpartum period. In the same manner, the mothers with borderline personality trait did not exhibited improved depression. It implies that they could feel loss of the complete union with their children and showed abandonment depression.
3.Thus, it is presumed that these mothers need to be supported mentally, not only during the postpartum period but also throughout the children's separation-individuation period, to allow them to adjust to their children's separation.
