Research Abstract |
The MISS(a magneto-impedance sensor-aided screening system) for assessing swallowing function was validated by VF or videoendoscopic(VE) examinations and applied to the RSST. The MISS signal patterns were superimposed on the VF or VE images by using computer software and then morphologically defined through the VF or VE observations. As compared with the conventional screening method, the predominancy of this method was shown. The paper announcement about MISS was made. Moreover, the influence which a posture has on larynx closing temporal duration from the obtained waveform, and the influence which a swallowing posture and Capsaicin have on a swallowing function were considered, conference announcements were made. The preliminary results suggest that the MISS is an effective screening test for swallowing function.
