Keywords | chicken / hemagioblast / hematopoiesis / vasculogenesis / ETV2 / NPAS4L |
Outline of Final Research Achievements |
We show that ancestral amniotes contain both ETV2 and NPAS4L genes and that ETV2, although absent in avian genomes, is able to initiate endothelial differentiation program, but not hematopoietic differentiation program.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
We offer an evo-devo example of how critical master regulators of blood and vessel development can still change and evolve. Socially, our work highlighted the importance of domestic and international collaborations.
