Outline of Final Research Achievements

In the present study, we investigated brain peptides such as arginine vasotocin, cholecystokinin and neuromedin U, especially α-melanophore-stimulating hormone (α-MSH), which is involved in body color regulation not only as a brain peptide but also as a pituitary medial hormone. A focused analysis of α-MSH secreted in the periphery reaches the brain and has a central effect on feeding behavior and emotional behavior, suppressing feeding and inducing anxiety-like behavior, respectively.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
