Outline of Final Research Achievements

We proposed a novel X-ray nonlinear process, which is nonlinear resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS), and developed a dedicated high-performance emission spectrometer. We successfully observed the nonlinear RIXS process, and applied it to nonlinear spectroscopy. Using our analysis method, we interpreted the two-dimensional spectrum measured by the nonlinear RIXS on copper, which revealed detailed information about the electronic state that could not otherwise be obtained.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
