Outline of Annual Research Achievements

研究代表者が所属する産業技術総合研究所の走査型SQUID磁気顕微鏡について、SQUIDチップへの配線方法をアルミワイヤーボンディングに変更するなど改良し、SQUIDセンサと試料の間の最短距離を従来の200μmから183μmに短縮することに成功し、高分解能化・高感度化に向けて一歩前進した。また、東京工業大学にて試作が進んでいた、パルスチューブ型極低温冷凍機で冷却できる走査型SQUID磁気顕微鏡を、研究分担者が所属する高知大学海洋コア総合研究センターに移設し、試験測定データを取得することが出来た。北海道春採湖で過去数百年の年縞堆積物および津波堆積物を採取することに成功し、14C年代・堆積層・珪藻化石・岩石磁気の分析を進めている。モンゴルのゴビ・アルタイセクションにおいて、火成岩試料（花崗岩、流紋岩、玄武岩）を９地点、堆積岩試料（石灰岩、リズマイト、ストロマトライト）を７地点で採取することに成功し、試料の古地磁気分析と火成岩の年代測定を進めている。西之島で2014-2015年溶岩から作製した薄片試料の自然残留磁化を交流消磁しながら走査型SQUID磁気顕微鏡で分析を行った。さらに、非履歴性残留磁化の交流消磁、熱残留磁化の交流消磁もあわせて行い、ショー法による絶対古磁場強度推定に向けて解析を進めている。地磁気逆転境界の前後から採取した房総半島堆積物試料について、300°Cまでの段階加熱による元素分布と走査型SQUID磁気顕微鏡の磁気イメージから加熱による磁性鉱物の変質および自然残留磁化のunblockingの情報を解析中である。

Reason

新型コロナウィルス感染拡大により、2021年度に予定していたモンゴルでの試料採取が2022年度になったためモンゴル試料を用いた分析が若干遅れている。また、新型コロナウィルス感染拡大とその他の要因により液体ヘリウムの供給が不安定であり、液体ヘリウムを必要とする走査型SQUID顕微鏡を用いた分析が若干遅れている。

Strategy for Future Research Activity

液体ヘリウム供給不安定による磁気顕微鏡分析遅延を改善するために、東京工業大学から研究分担者が所属する高知大学海洋コア総合研究センターに移設され、試験稼働に成功したパルスチューブ型極低温冷凍機で冷却する走査型SQUID磁気顕微鏡を積極的に活用し、研究推進を行う。
