Outline of Final Research Achievements

This research subject aimed to examine mutual influences among popular performing arts, Fushi-geki(Naniwabushi-shibai), Niwaka, Ongyoku-manzai, which expanded in modern times of Japan. Interview survey and documentations research focused on northern part of Kyushu and Osaka revealed that each performing arts gave some impacts with one another on various aspects such as performers and program contents. These also show new aspects that Fushi-geki's expansion to local area led to appearance of Niwaka and Rokyoku- manzai afterwards, in terms of cross-regional and cross-genre viewpoint in the history of performing arts of modern Japan.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究課題で対象とした芸能（特に節劇、浪曲漫才）は、これまで主要な種目の派生的な形として受け止められ、十分な関心が向けられてこなかった。しかし、本研究の成果として得られた、芸能の相互的な影響関係は、近代日本の興行実態が個別のジャンル史の列挙ではなく、それらの相互的な影響関係を含みながら形作られていることを明らかにした。このことは、近代日本の芸能興行史に新たな理解の可能性を促すものである。加えて今回の対象は都市部だけでなく、地方を含めた広い領域で捉えたものであり、近現代の興行史研究を地域研究という領域で捉えることに貢献すると考えている。
