Outline of Final Research Achievements

The results of this study can be summarized in the following two main points.
1) I examined the texts of Ojima Kikuko, Kunikida Haruko, and Kano Yukashi, who were regular contributors to "Taiwan Aikoku Fujin," and clarified that these　women published "self-representational" texts in the "Colony of the Japanese Empire" that could be regarded as their representative works, by comparing them with their publications in the "Japanese Imperial Inner Territories" media. This Study also supplements the chronology of their writings by introducing new materials.2) "Taiwan Aikoku Fujin" was a government-manufactured propaganda magazine to support the policies of the Taiwan Governor-General's Office, especially the "mountainous lands defeat project". This study revealed that the women writers contributed texts that contributed to the nature of such a medium, and that a cooperative relationship was established in which mutual coexistence was sought.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

本研究は〈帝国〉日本が統治初期台湾において刊行した官製プロパガンダ誌『台湾愛国婦人』という新資料に基づいて、女性作家たちの寄稿内容を〈内地〉媒体のそれと比較しながら具体的に明らかにした。各女性作家たちの著作活動の内実を詳らかにしただけでなく、従来一般には知られていなかった、明治末から昭和期にかけて活躍した女性記者の文業をも追跡して明らかにした。女性作家・記者と植民地政策との関わりを明らかにした点で、日本近代文学研究のみならず、女性史、ジェンダー研究、日本近代史、台湾史、植民地研究、雑誌メディア研究等に資する新たな知見をもたらしたと言える。
