Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In FY2021, the researcher published a total of two peer-reviewed articles pertaining to her topic of interest. She successfully delivered a paper in virtual format at a hybrid international conference in October 2021. The researcher was also invited to impart her research interests and results in a series of presentations among colleagues, an event which was organized by the department at her affiliation in the fall of 2021. In addition to having a journal article accepted on the specific themes of gender and chinoiserie, the researcher has been able to expand and explore new horizons. She has been reading extensively on a multitude of authors whose works provide opportunities for reflection on the shifting perceptions regarding oriental commodities during the Restoration period, and more widely, the long eighteenth century as a whole. Such endeavors have led the researcher to not only investigate theories in literary criticism but also in the fields of sociology, aesthetics, ethics, and art history. The list of literary works as well as writers which the researcher consults is ever growing, and she is prepared to continue writing and delivering her research results in FY2022 and beyond.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The researcher has demonstrated steady progress with her project, as, notwithstanding the effects of the global pandemic, she has manifested her ability for research output in the form of publications and a conference paper in FY2021. She envisages continued research and presentation of her findings in FY2022 and beyond.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The researcher is currently in the final stages of drafting an article, which will be submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. Other plans for the research scheme in FY2022 include overseas research trips, during which the researcher envisages participation and delivery of papers at conferences. The findings will subsequently be compiled as journal articles.
|
Causes of Carryover |
Due to the prolonged effects of the global pandemic, actual expenditure for the research project was significantly less than anticipated. Assuming that international travel resumes in FY2022, overseas research trips will necessitate resources, including those incurred from the previous fiscal year.
