Outline of Final Research Achievements |
It is well known that most Prague German writers at turn of the 20th century were influenced by Judaism. Naturally, it is important to clarify the effects on German literature, however, contemporary works are seldom read and discussed except those of Franz Kafka. Jewish journalists of that era were actively exploring the possibility of a Jewish national literature written in German. The novel of Kafka’s closest friend, Max Brod “Jewish Women” (Die Juedinnen, 1911) was one of those born in the midst of these discussions about Jewish novels. This research project elucidated the relevance of this novel to the cultural debates of the time. Additionally, a biography of Max Brod and a bibliography of his works, as well as translation of this novel have been completed and will be published at the end of 2024.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
