Outline of Annual Research Achievements

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the nature of this research. In this research the primary researcher and the student researcher have to interview students face to face in a room. Since we could not do the interviews this part of the project was somewhat delayed. However we were able to build upon previous research and analyze data in both Japanese and English which we were unable to due pre-Covid. Focus has been on improving the scoring interface, improving the quality of video capture, and reducing the lag time in the assessment. We have also built a new system using Python which will enable us to include AI into our system.

Reason

Due to the COVID 19 pandemic and the nature of this research ie. interviewing students face to face in a room, the project was somewhat delayed.

Strategy for Future Research Activity

Through Action Research are improving the system ie. the interface which the researcher uses and the quality of the video capture. The next round of interviews are being planned for early to late autumn 2022.

Causes of Carryover

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic were were not able to use our budget that was allocated for international and domestic travel.
