Outline of Final Research Achievements

This study focuses on the maps and figures related to Southeast Asian history published in Japanese junior and senior high school history textbooks since the 1980s. Rather than examining the contents themselves, we were able to conduct a comprehensive survey of the maps in textbooks with the aim of clarifying the relationship between the trends in the academic community, the development of theories, and the transition of the social situation surrounding the publication of textbooks as the background.
We published some journal papers on the historiography of the Japanese history, and a text book of the wide Asian history focusing on the economic history including Southeast Asia.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements

東京の教科書図書館にて網羅的な教科書現物調査を行った。その成果は現在成稿中である。研究成果としては、蓮田はアジア史の学界展望・回顧に関するレビューを発表し、内田は日本の歴史教育に関する論考を日英両言語で発表した。
