| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Because of the ongoing global pandemic, there have been only limited achievements in the first year of the project. The experiments with married couples for this research are supposed to be taking place in Indonesia, on the island of Java. The project plan was that the first year was supposed to be for preparation and piloting. However, with the restrictions on (re-)entry into Japan for foreigners and also heavy restrictions on entry into Indonesia and movement within Indonesia, preparation for experimental work has been limited. Instead, we have engaged in liaison via the internet with partners in Indonesia and I have worked on the detailed design of the experiments and the accompanying survey material. However, I have not been able to travel to Indonesia and select research sites and do face-to-face training.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
As mentioned above, the Corona virus (Covid-19) pandemic has hampered preparations for this research. In fact, the first year was planned to be a discussion and planning year to allow for some difficulties in running experimental research. And so, the degree of delay is only slight compared to the plan.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The basic plan is largely unchanged from the original submission. Travel is becoming easier to arrange. So I will run pilots in Indonesia in this fiscal year. We will also set up the main experimental work and start the main experiments. With the aid of researchers at the University of Indonesia, we aim to recruit married couples close to Jakarta to limit travel problems.

The saved 89350 will be put towards the delayed piloting expenses for the next fiscal year.
