Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
According to the World Health Organization, large portions of the population in Asia, Africa and the Middle East are disproportionately exposed to high concentrations of pollution. The project aims to provide new evidence on pollution through the prism of place-based industrial policy. We explored a quasi-experimental design based on the economic zones that have been gradually established in various Chinese counties.

Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
We have constructed county-level data on special economic zones and firm emission data. We also laid out specifications on how place-based policies affect pollution.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
I plan to study how place-based policies affect pollution based on the identification strategy laid out in the first year, and further pin down the mechanism through which place-based policies affect the environment.

Causes of Carryover |
