Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic and the emerging fear of ‘China’s rise’ along with the spread of nationalism have substantially redefined the globalization logic in the world, especially in the U.S. and Western countries. Multinational enterprises (MNEs)’s post-COVID strategies need to incorporate both risk management and institutional logic perspectives underlying globalization. Apart from pursuing cost-reduction, MNEs have also considered building more partnerships based on shared value to decouple from China. Such geopolitical pressure is however counteracted by economic rationality, creating unsettled priority between the globalization and deglobalization logics.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
The research progress for the FY2022 went rather smoothly according to the plan. Especially, most of the restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic have been eliminated. I have also begun the research work as planned for the FY2023.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The research work for the FY2023 will continue from the FY2022 according to the plan. Based on the conceptual framework developed in the past years, I will continue to collect data related to the post COVID-19 pandemic to test the hypotheses, and to complete and publish the papers.

Causes of Carryover |
The small incurring amount will be used for miscellaneous expenses in the FY2023, such as photocopy, communication, and local transportation.
