Outline of Final Research Achievements |
Large deformation loading tests were conducted on composite beams (beams integrating concrete floor slabs and steel beams), which are often used in steel structural buildings, under the assumption that they are subjected to earthquake motion in two horizontal directions. This experiment confirmed that the bearing capacity deteriorates earlier when subjected to loads in two horizontal directions than when subjected to loads in one horizontal direction. An analytical model that can evaluate such behavior was proposed, and through seismic response analysis of steel-structured buildings using the proposed model, it was confirmed that the buildings tend to collapse earlier than conventional analytical models.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements |
