Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Under the auspices of KAKENHI funding, the following key successes have been achieved: 1/ A model for the optimal control of dynamic phenomena on complex networks has been developed and published in a quality international journal Journal of the Royal Society Interface (doi:10.1098/rsif.2021.0739) 2/ A model of widespread social dynamics has been developed and published in a quality international journal Proceedings of the Royal Society A (doi:10.1098/rspa.2021.0567) 3/ The most comprehensive overview of the applications of physics to social systems has been completed and published in the prestigious journal Physics Reports, whose impact factor is 25.6 and the corresponding ranking is 3 out of 85 in multidisciplinary physics (doi:10.1016/j.physrep.2021.10.005).

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
As mentioned in the Summary of Research Achievements, several milestones have already been achieved. Especially the development of dynamical-systems models has proven fruitful, yielding novel results on dynamics in complex social systems. Some difficulties have arisen with respect to organizing social-dilemma (behavioural) experiments due to the ongoing pandemic and related restrictions. The Principal Investigator has also transferred to a new research institution, which poses some novel challenges to the continuation of the project.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Project execution currently has twofold goals: 1/ Further development of dynamical-systems models, especially with a more direct focus on vaccination-related social dynamics under the threat of an epidemic and disinformation about the epidemic and the vaccines. 2/ Continuing talks with collaborators to organize and execute social-dilemma experiments.
