Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This project aims to develop an electrochemical method to manipulate metals atoms decorated on conjugated polymers. The works include continuous improvement in reliability of the electrochemical method, fundamental studies on properties of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer, and application of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer in electrochemical biosensors. In this fiscal year, three referred papers related to this project are published, and the project number is mentioned in the acknowledgement, and these three papers are involved the fundamental studies, and one is on the application as glucose sensors. Results obtained by the support of this project are also presented in 7 international and 2 domestic conferences.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Preparation of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer materials is expected to be difficult, and improving the atomic electrodeposition process is a target in this project. We are in the process of developing a new generation of the equipment.
Despite the difficulty in preparation of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer, we still manage to project valuable results to publish 3 referred papers and several presentations in international and domestic conferences.
Therefore, the progress is rather smooth and expected to be better in the new fiscal year.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Completing second generation of the atomic electrodeposition equipment is critical in this project. This upgrade is almost complete in previous fiscal year, and it shall be completed in this fiscal year.
The research work has been on atomic gold clusters on polyaniline. The mechanism should be applicable to metals other than gold. In this new fiscal year, platinum or palladium will be studied.
By simulation, bandgap of the atomic gold decorated polyaniline is reported to be affected by the number of gold in a cluster. Direct evaluation of the bandgap will be evaluated in this year. Demonstrating the advantage as catalytic materials in biosensors is a target and will be continued.
