Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This project aims to develop an atomic-level electrochemical method to decorate metal atoms on conjugated polymers. The works include continuous improvement in reliability of the electrochemical method, fundamental studies on properties of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer, and application of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer in electrochemical biosensors. In this fiscal year, two referred papers related to this project are published. In one paper, atomic-gold decorated polyaniline gas sensors were prepared and the sensing performance was evaluated. Results obtained by the support of this project are also presented in 2 international and 1 domestic conferences.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Preparation of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer materials is expected to be difficult, and improving the atomic electrodeposition process is a target in this project. We continuously conduct adjustment of our equipment to improve the reliability. Despite the difficulty in preparation of the atomic metal clusters decorated polymer, we still manage to produce valuable results to publish referred papers and several presentations in international and domestic conferences. Therefore, the progress is rather smooth.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
This is the last fiscal year of the project. Results obtained in this project will be summarized and reported in scientific papers. Another important task would be extending the result to application of new projects. One strategy is continue to investigate the unique properties of atomic-level metal clusters and atomic-level alloy clusters. This is valuable for fundamental studies. In addition, demonstrating the advantage in practical application is also important. The catalytic activity and selectivity of a catalytic electrode decorated with the atomic-level metal clusters will always a topic of interest.
