Outline of Final Research Achievements

Despite the charge transport properties of π-conjugated polymers enormously depending on their primary structure, the impact of homocoupling defects, which significantly alter the primary structure, has largely been overlooked. This study reveals that polymers containing homocoupling defects (DPP-DPP and DTE-DTE bonds) in alternating copolymers of diketopyrrolopyrrole (DPP) and dithienylethene (DTE) skeletons exhibit higher charge mobility, with DTE-DTE bonds contributing to the improvement of charge mobility. Furthermore, a new highly selective polymerization catalyst was developed for the direct arylation polymerization (DArP) of dichloroarenes using a mixed-ligand palladium catalyst, enabling controlled structural synthesis.

Academic Significance and Societal Importance of the Research Achievements
