Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Results have been presented internationally at the AMEE conference 2022 and domestically at the Japan Society for Medical Education conference 2022 and 2021. Confirmation of a further presentation at the 2024 Japan Society for Medical Education is awaited. This research has been awarded the Japan Society for Medical Education Silver Award 2021. A paper is under consideration by the international English journal, Medical Education.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Delay due to 1 year maternity leave by principal researcher Further delays due to staff changes at Imperial College London, UK (partner university) Impact of COVID-19 which affected recruitment and interview schedules

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
A further 1 year extension has been granted. In this time the data will undergo secondary examination to explore cultural differences related to leadership factors (focusing on power and hierarchy) that affect professionalism (phase 2). A further research paper is expected to be completed in the remaining time.

Causes of Carryover |
Underspend reasons: The principal investigator was on maternity and childcare leave during this year Plans for amount to be used next fiscal year and usage plan: The underspend will be used in carrying out a secondary analysis and publishing the results in an international peer-reviewed English language journal.
