Outline of Final Research Achievements |
The main focus of this work is to develop a method for representing three-dimensional surfaces in a manner suitable for physics-based simulation of three-dimensional objects like finite element method. More specifically, it targets principal issues related to data reduction and fast visualization of complex surface models. Additionally, the technique for generating three-dimensional surfaces has been developed aiming applications in material engineering simulations. In particular, several new methods have been introduced for shape modeling of materials known as foamed metals, which consist of solid metal with randomly distributed small holes.

材料工学を含む工学の広い分野では物理現象のシミュレーションが重要な役割を果たしており,シミュレーションの対象となる物体の3次元形状を正確に表現することが精度を決める主要因の一つとなっている.本研究は複雑な3次元形状をコンピュータ上で正確に表現すること,およびその形状を画面上で高速に描画することを目的としており,この技術を応用することで各分野におけるシミュレーションの高度化の促進を期待するものである.
