Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This year`s research has been mostly preparatory for the upcoming years. Due to the pandemic there has been some delay to progress, but in the meantime there has been extensive literature review to understand the current state of the field, as well as to build-up the data requirements for the development of the deliberation materials. Two workshops were held between the research collaborators, to clarify the research plan.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The pandemic has slowed the engagement with overseas researchers and the interaction on a domestic level, as well as reducing the availability of human resources to work on the project. However, the planning and initial literature review have been progressing smoothly.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
This year we intend to develop the basic material for the engagement processes, through lifecycle assessment and evaluation of the likely socio-economic impacts of alternative resource supply strategies, with a focus on deep sea mining. We will also start the development of visual and audio-visual media to be used in the information packages supplied to the decision-making participants.

Causes of Carryover |
In the next financial year I will purchase a license for LCA software and start to produce the media material needed for the deliberation processes. This will require investment in time for research assistants, as well as software and onsite visits to take the footage.
