Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In the first year of this research project, design specifications were clarified and the ideation stage for embodiment design was completed. For clarifying design specifications of the water level measurement device, the working prototype was extensively revised. It was also disassembled for inspection and we understood how leaves and mud can affect the sensor. After clarifying design specifications, we came up with several ideas for the embodiment design of the measurement device. Many of them were evaluated by building models and prototypes. As a result, we came up with design proposals for the device structure and system configuration. The design of the measurement device's form was also performed considering functional requirements.

3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
Before the start of resent research, the design of the measurement device included sensor technology using a floater. However, the company that provides this technology has been working in a new sensor that is more accurate and can measure water level in real time. We are presently evaluating the use of the new technology in the present research. Although the overall structure and design of the measurement device does not require changes, the detailed design of the device requires some adjustments.

Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Detailed design of the measurement device using new sensing technology will be performed. Based on it, a working-prototype will be built and evaluated through validation tests. After validation, design will be reviewed and improved, and a final prototype of the measurement device will be built and evaluated from functional and non-functional perspectives.
