| Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Thus far I have published a paper with some initial results in an international journal (Religions, within the MDPI collection of journals based in Switzerland) and presented at the American Philosophical Association's Central Division annual conference (via remote link). This was done in conjunction with the Society for the Phenomenology of Religious Experiences. I have also secured a publisher for the entire book-length research results and have just submitted the final manuscript for that. The publisher is Resource Publications, part of the U.S.-based Wipf and Stock publishing company. I also maintained my membership with the Japan Association of Religion and Ethics and participated in their annual conference and joined the Japan Society for Jewish Studies.

1: Research has progressed more than it was originally planned.
Reason
After many efforts I was able to secure a publisher earlier than expected. This will allow me to focus on final preparations of the book rather than to continue to search for a publisher while finishing the research. I will also be able to give more attention to presenting on the research during this year.

| Strategy for Future Research Activity |
This year I plan to finalize the book-length research results, publish it, and then work hard on presenting its contents. I hope to give presentations to the Japan Association of Religion and Ethics and also the Japan Society for Jewish Studies. These would both be domestic presentations, but due to the pandemic I'm unsure whether they would be done remotely or in-person (of course hopefully in-person). If possible, and if travel becomes permitted, I would also like to present on the research internationally, possibly either at the Westar Institute's annual meeting or at another conference in conjunction with the book's publisher.

| Causes of Carryover |
Primarily I plan to use the funds for the typesetter's fee that the publisher requires. I haven't received a full invoice for this yet, but it will be within the amount of the grant. In addition I would like to use the funds for travel expenses to present on the research at the Japan Association of Religion and Ethics conference and the Japan Society for Jewish Studies conference. These will be held in the Kansai region and the Kanto region, respectively. I would also like to try to reach a broader audience, e.g. for the general public. This might be possible through my current university.
