Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In addressing the issues of pyroplastic deformation (PD) and sintering shrinkage (SS), firstly, both small water absorption (WA) and pyroplastic deformation (PD) are achieved by controlling high-temperature viscosity, i.e., by adding IA or IIA oxides and high-temperature crystal precursors. Five porcelains with minimized WA and PD across a wide firing temperature range have been developed. Secondly, a strategy for precisely controlling both shrinkage and PD is developed by promoting anorthite crystallization. A series of near-zero-shrinkage porcelain (NZS) has been developed by adjusting the raw materials. Furthermore, almost fully densified NZS was optimized. In addition, Arita ware with both high strength and high toughness was realized through alumina and zirconia strengthening.
