Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The interactive video feedback process offers the teacher greater opportunity to provide criteria-based feedback on speaking in a reflective way without interrupting a student and affecting fluency. A video submission process also reduced student anxiety when speaking. Data showed greater understanding of speaking criteria by students and presents opportunities for students to reflect on their speaking critically, leading to independent learning. However, the process requires a large commitment of time and requires teacher training to use effectively. However, this researcher feels the investment is worthwhile, due to the importance of feedback in learning outcomes, and the value felt by both students and teachers in undertaking the process.
