Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
This research aims to help Japanese EFL learners improve their accuracy in article usage (0, a/an, the) through explicit grammar instruction. The project had two phases: Phase 1 focused on reading and writing, and Phase 2 focused on listening and speaking. During AY2021, the foundation was laid by developing and piloting online platforms for delivering instructional content and testing performance across four experimental conditions. In AY2022, data for Phase 1 were collected from multiple classes, cleaned, and collated. The same process was followed for Phase 2 in AY2023. The receptive data have been analyzed and partly presented at international conferences, while the productive data will be analyzed in the coming months. All findings will be published in international journals.
