Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The third year of this project saw development in three areas: 1) addition of interviews to the online resource; 2) promotion of the online resource; and 3) creation of interview subtitles.
Although the goal of conducting and publishing 40 immigrant interviews was achieved in the second year of this grant, funds were used to conduct a further 5 interviews, with videos edited and published on the Database of Immigrant Narratives (DIN). A further development was to add subtitles to three interviews in order to increase accessibility for low-level English learners. Finally, promotion of the DIN was pursued through two publications in academic journals and one presentation at an international conference.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The goals of the project have been achieved, with the exception of the creation of subtitles for three interviews. At present, an outside contractor has indicated that addition time will be required to complete subtitles for one remaining interview, thus necessitating the extension of this project.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
As this project will be extended into a fourth year in order to allow time for a contractor to complete interview subtitles, the researcher will endeavor to: 1) conduct, edit, and add additional interviews to the database; and 2) continue promotion of the DIN through research publications and presentations.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The remaining funds will be used to 1) conduct, edit, and publish further interviews, and 2) complete subtitles on the three video interviews to improve accessibility for low-level learners.
