Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research started by investigating rural inequalities. This first stage revealed that the inequalities exist in the countries investigated. Across countries, rural inequalities are more explained by school factors relative to family ones. Moreover, the research also highlighted that the inequalities investigated are also explained by "unmeasured" factors, which suggest that intangible factors explain inequalities. These findings were presented at conferences: the 13th Asian Conference on Education (ACE2021) in November 2021 and the Japan Society of Afrasian Studies 2021 International Conference, Nagoya University, Japan in July 2021. An application to present at "Thomas SANKARA et le developpement" conference in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (West Africa), in July 2022 was also accepted.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
3: Progress in research has been slightly delayed.
Reason
The research planned to use two datasets (PASEC 2014 and 2019) but the second dataset was not obtained by the expected time. The first stage of the research was conducted using only one dataset. Moreover, the expected publication of the findings were delayed. After submitting the findings of the first stage to an international journal, it was returned to the researcher months later because the journal "could not find a reviewer to review the paper".
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
The findings of the first stage are expected to be presented at "Thomas SANKARA et le developpement" conference in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso (West Africa), in July 2022.
The second stage of the research will start this fiscal year 2022, investigating factors of gender inequalities in learning outcomes across the countries investigated. After obtaining findings, the researcher plans to present them at conferences and also publish a paper in an international journal.
|
Causes of Carryover |
The research continues this fiscal year and at least one presentation at an international conference and the researcher also plans to meet some researchers in West Africa to obtain feedback and inputs for the research. The amount will be used for these purposes.
