Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
In 2021, the researcher conducted systematic scoping review on virtual international student mobility collecting published materials from academic databases, field notes, annual reports, situation analysis, as well as program information published at 37 universities' home pages or program websites in 10 countries across Asia Pacific region. In addition, related literature on virtual mobility typologies, online education, and international education during covid is reviewed.
As a result, the researcher mapped out number of common typologies, identified potential models for case studies, and began collecting data from one case in Japan.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
Over 300 academic publications and public data from 37 universities in Asia Pacific are collected, systematically reviewed and analyzed. The researcher shared preliminary findings from the review as well as one case study at relevant academic conference receiving further feedback.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
Throughout 2022 academic year, the researcher will conduct case studies at selected institutions involving students, faculties, and administrators, particularly investigating perceived effectiveness from internationalization of higher education perspective.
Preliminary findings from the case studies will be shared at relevant academic conferences while an article on scoping review will be finalized and submitted to an academic journal.

Causes of Carryover |
Conference registration fees were reduced for online format, the researcher saved money by purchasing kindle version of books that are cheaper, and the RA student was hired for cheaper rate being Master's degree student rather than PhD student.
