Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
Built a fully function Terahertz time domain spectroscopy setup and found a pulse using a photoconductive emitter in reflection geometry. I supervised a student for 3 months to help them build this setup and teach them about Terahertz generation. I devised a unique and compact method for generating two colour plasma without having to physically separate the fundamental and second harmonic beam. This uses a BBO crystal combined with calcite waveplate system in order to adjust the time delay between the two. When fully built this was very compact using only two parabolic mirrors to collect and focus the Terahertz pulse. Unfortunately, we were unable to find a pulse which we could attribute to the plasma. However, a future collaboration has been created for further development.
