Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research on microplastics and Nano-plastics effect on macrophytes, cyanobacteria and their interactions was completed. Nanoplastics experiments were conducted as an additional achievement of the research. In addition to the proposed species, cyanobacteria species, Phormidium ambiguum and aquatic plant species Myriophyllum sp. were tested for the microplastic effects. Microplastics were not absorbed, but the adsorption impacted the plant and cyanobacteria. Nanoplastics are absorbed into the tissues and have a significant effect. The electron microscopy confirmed the absorption of nanoplastics. Further impact of fibers in clothes wash water on M. roraima was tested. Fibers were attached to plants.3 scientific articles were published and two papers are under preparation.
