Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The use of new wood engineered materials named as CLT (Cross Laminated timber) into reinforced concrete (RC)buildings is considered a promising hybrid buildings form sustainable point of view. This study investigated the expected failure modes for RC frames with CLT and estimated its seismic capacity. The research method is based on a combination of analytical modeling and experimental tests of 1/3 scaled specimens. The main achievements are as follows: (1)Several failure modes for RC frames with CLT infill were investigated, and an evaluation method was proposed.(2)The failure type of CLT compression strut was clarified using several experiments.(3)An analysis model using a simplified macro-model was proposed for simulating the developed hybrid system.
