Outline of Annual Research Achievements |
The research is going well as planned. This year, I set up the platforms of micro-droplet and micro-well array device to elucidate the interactions among polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) degrading bacteria. This research has been carried out in cooperation with a number of scholars from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST) and Kyushu University. At present, this research is preparing for publication, and through the writing, I have a deeper understanding of the research and can lay a solid foundation for further research projects. I have attended several academic conferences. The academic communications have provided me with enlightening thoughts and ideas for my research.

Current Status of Research Progress |
Current Status of Research Progress
2: Research has progressed on the whole more than it was originally planned.
Reason
At present, the micro-space culture systems for naphthalene-degrading consortia, including micro-droplet and micro-device, have been initially established. I have obtained some effective micro-degrading consortia by these two platforms. Moreover, the naphthalene-degrading ability and the composition of micro-consortia have been analyzed. This provides a solid basis for subsequent studies on the interactions among species in micro-cosnortia. The study is progressing well according to the plan.
|
Strategy for Future Research Activity |
(1) In the process of acquiring naphthalene-degrading micro-consortia, the slow-growing and fast-growing micro-consortia will be compared and analyzed. (2) To increase the analysis number of micro-consortia, and to select the meaningful micro-consortia for in-depth study, including the transcriptome and metabolome, and to grasp the interactions among the members of the naphthalene-degrading micro-consortia. (3) To select different PAHs substrates and to study the interactions of micro-consortia by the platforms of micro-droplet and micro-well array device.

Causes of Carryover |
Reasons: (1)Because the publications of this year's research results are being prepared, the submission fee will be incurred in the next year. (2)Due to the impact of the global coronavirus, I did not participate in international academic conferences this year. The usage plan of incurring amount in the next fiscal year is mainly for publications submission and international conference participation and travel expenses.
